Jinko ESS, a leading global energy storage company and a subsidiary of JinkoSolar Co., Ltd., is advancing a 135MWh green battery energy storage project in Germany. Connected with a photovoltaic plant and structured to support a hybrid power purchase agreement (PPA), the project is designed to strengthen the delivery and commercial value of renewable electricity.

As Germany expands its renewable energy capacity, co-located and connected storage is becoming increasingly important. Battery energy storage can capture surplus solar generation, shift renewable electricity to periods of higher demand, and help create a more stable delivery profile for customers and the grid.

By integrating 135MWh of green BESS capacity with the PV plant, the project is intended to support more effective use of solar generation and provide the flexibility required for a hybrid PPA. The approach brings together renewable production, energy storage, and contracted energy delivery within one coordinated project concept.

The project is built on the Jinko Tera liquid-cooled energy storage system (5.01MWh). With a tested 94.1% conversion efficiency, the system captures surplus solar output with minimal charging and discharging losses, while its mirrored AB-cabinet layout reduces footprint by 17.7% and DC cabling by 50%, significantly shortening on-site delivery and grid-connection cycles — enabling storage capacity to enter service alongside the PV plant faster and supporting the reliable execution of the hybrid PPA.

Roberto Murgioni, General Manager of Jinko ESS Europe, said: “We are delighted to continue strengthening our cooperation in Germany through this 135MWh project. By bringing together PV, storage and a hybrid PPA structure, this project reflects the kind of integrated approach that will make renewable energy more flexible and dependable.”

Looking ahead, Jinko ESS will continue to collaborate with partners across Europe to deliver high-quality battery energy storage solutions that enhance renewable energy utilisation, strengthen grid flexibility, and support new routes to market for clean power.
