LONGi participated the senior level dialogue and seminar focusing on "Building Sustainable Business and Brands" at the Palace of Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, which were jointly organized by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the United Nations Forum on Sustainability Standards (UNFSS), the China Association for Standardization (CAS), and its Sustainable Business and Brand Committee (SBBC).
As a core platform within the UN system focusing on building sustainable business and brands, the above events brought together global government representatives, heads of international organizations, and leaders of multinational enterprises, aiming to promote global alignment on sustainable business standards and accelerate the implementation of corporate sustainable brand governance practices. LONGi was invited to attend the two major international events as the sole corporate representative from China's new energy industry.
On September 4, Jia Chao, President of LONGi’s Europe Business Center, joined the senior level dialogue with heads of international organizations and leaders of multinational enterprises. Mr. Jia pointed out that clean energy represented by solar energy has become the backbone of the global energy transition. Solar energy resources are widely distributed globally and have greater universality, particularly helping to promote sustainable development in energy scarce areas and underdeveloped countries, such as Afghanistan and Pakistan. He also shared LONGi’s practices for creating sustainable businesses and achieving energy equity, stating that technological innovation is the core engine driving enterprise development, and sustainable development is no longer an empty slogan, but a practical action that must be deeply integrated into enterprise strategy, supply chain management, and daily operations.
Meanwhile, LONGi formally signed the visionary initiative of "A Commitment to Build Sustainable Brands ", injecting momentum into the global sustainable business ecosystem with Chinese corporate strength. The first batch of signing enterprises includes more than 20 leading Chinese enterprises such as Anta Sports, CATL, and LONGi. Witnessed by numerous international organization members, the visionary initiative outlined a new direction for global enterprises, particularly those in the new energy sector playing a critical role in addressing climate change, to integrate sustainable development into their brand building.
At the level of action, LONGi is committed to integrating green development principles into every aspect of its operations: Through continuous technological innovation, it pushes the limits of conversion efficiency in photovoltaic products, making solar power affordable and accessible to all, and supporting global deep decarbonization with its "green electricity + green hydrogen" solutions. In 2024, LONGi has upgraded its former "Strategy Committee" to the "Strategy and Sustainability Committee", ensuring that technology R&D, global layout, and market expansion all take "sustainability goals" as a core evaluation dimension from a decision-making mechanism perspective.
On September 3, Floria Wang, Head of Global Branding at LONGi, also delivered a speech themed "The Inherent Sustainable DNA of the PV Industry and Global Implementation" during the international cooperation seminar, sharing the path for enterprises to transform sustainable concepts into practical value. Ms. Wang elaborated on the "Photovoltaic+" project in China’s Kubuqi Desert, which generates green electricity while combating desertification; the Kayapó project in the Brazilian rainforest, which empowers indigenous tribes to protect local ecology through sustainable PV development; and the solar power station built for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Uzbekistan, which frees up more aid resources by reducing costs and carbon emissions. These practices vividly demonstrate how PV technology transforms "industrial sustainability attributes" into "social and environmental value benefiting the world".
The new energy sector is inherently sustainable. As a champion, practitioner, and leader in clean energy sustainability, LONGi has consistently placed sustainable development at the heart of its strategy. From proposing the "Solar for Solar" concept at the UN Climate Change Conference to participating in global climate initiatives and supporting China’s dual-carbon goals, LONGi actively advances the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and contributes to global climate action. LONGi's sustainability is also reflected in its robust financial performance and excellent corporate governance, ensuring the company's long-term viability beyond product cycles. This enables LONGi to continuously empower customers and even energy-intensive industries to achieve low-carbon transformation, jointly fostering a prosperous "BC Ecosystem".
This showcase at UN Geneva Office marks the transformation of Chinese new energy companies, represented by LONGi, from contributors of technology and exporters of products to advocates for global sustainable development issues and participants in standard-setting. Through its comprehensive practices, LONGi demonstrates that a company's brand value is deeply intertwined with its contributions to the planet and society, and that a truly global brand must be a steadfast practitioner of sustainable development.
