Weekly Overview On Prices For Polysilicon, Wafers, Cells, Modules & Solar Glass
TaiyangNews PV Price Index – 2024 - CW48
Published on

The TaiyangNews PV Price Index was, once again, mostly stable Week-on-Week (WoW), with only one product seeing a change in Calendar Week 48.

The polysilicon category continues to maintain stable price levels, having seen the last change in CW39.

Wafer prices have been flat for the second week running, after both p-type and n-type 182 mm variants saw price declines in CW46.

The TOPCon 182 mm cell was the only product to see a price change in CW48 – a positive 1.8% change WoW making for a 3.7% increase Month-on-Month (MoM).

Following CW47 where PERC module prices declined between 1.4% and 1.5%, the module category was stable WoW.

There have been no changes in solar glass prices since CW39.

With just 4 weeks to go, the TaiyangNews PV Price Index has seen greater price declines upstream than downstream in CY2024. Although mostly stable lately, all Chinese polysilicon types have crossed the 39.3% price decline mark YtD. Among wafers, the older n-type variants have lost more than 55% of their value thus far this year. While it has seen a rebound over the last 2 weeks, the decline for the TOPCon 182 mm cell (down 41.7% YtD) is still disproportionately higher among cell types. Module prices have declined in the range of 23% to 31.4% YtD. And solar glass prices are down in the 21.4% to 35% range YtD.

The data refers to average product prices in China. The data was collected by Chinese market research firm Gessey PV Consulting.
