  • REC Group has announced a new solar panel with up to 470 W power output
  • It will be an extension of the company’s Alpha series, making it the 4th module in the series
  • Actual module will be launched by the company in RE+2023 in the US in September 2023

Norway based REC Group has announced the manufacturer’s highest power residential solar panel to date with up to 470 W output, based on advanced heterojunction (HJT) cell technology.

The new panel expands REC’s Alpha product series that was initially launched in 2019. Back then, REC called it the world’s most powerful 60-cell solar panel. It followed up with REC Alpha Pure panel in 2021, and REC Alpha Pure-R in 2022 with G12 HJT cells for the residential segment.

Based on n-type technology, the Alpha Pure-R solar module with 210 mm wafer-based HJT cell offers up to 430 W output and 22.3% efficiency. It stands on 22nd position on TaiyangNews’ Top Solar Modules Listing currently (see Top Solar Modules Listing—August 2023).

Details of the new product are still under wraps as the manufacturer plans to officially launch it on September 12, 2023 at RE+2023 in the US.

At the event, it will also roll out the company’s new lead-free and RoHS compliant REC Alpha Pure 2 rooftop solar panel that generates up to 430 W, along with other products.

The HJT solar technology company is now a subsidiary of India’s Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) that acquired it in October 2021 (see India’s Mukesh Ambani Goes Solar Shopping).
