Dr Peter Helm, who served as a director of the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference & Exhibition (EU PVSEC) for over 30 years and is credited with playing a crucial role in advancing solar energy research, has passed away.
Helm was one of the founders of the German consultancy WIP Renewable Energies. He headed the organization for over 50 years before passing on the baton to his successor Rainer Janssen and Jonas Bergmiller as he transitioned to the company's advisory board in 2021.
He was also among the founding members of several European renewable energy associations.
In a statement, EU PVSEC said, "His passion, commitment and expertise have been instrumental in shaping the development of the renewable energy sector. Dr Helm's legacy will live on through the countless contributions he has made to the field of Photovoltaics."
