PERC Modules with M10/182mm Cells Report

A TaiyangNews conference report on PERC Modules with M10/182 mm Cells Towards Very High Efficiency Products provides a summary of the event presentations of leading module suppliers JinkoSolar, JA Solar and LONGi Solar and descriptions of their 182 mm based module products.

Solar power is quickly improving its competitiveness and has already become the lowest cost energy source for many applications in several regions of the world. To tap the huge potential, the solar industry is currently in a gigantic expansion phase with a strong focus on higher efficiency cell and module technologies. We took this opportunity to create a platform to promote the dialogue between research, industry and key customers by organizing the first TaiyangNews Virtual Conference on High Efficiency Solar Technologies – From PERC and TOPCon to HJT and IBC.

Held on Dec. 1-4, 2020, the first day of the conference discussed the developments associated with M10 (182 mm) wafer-based module design using PERC technology. While one may question PERC being part of the discussion on high efficiency, the new standard cell technology backed with its huge knowledge and capacity base warrants more than a mere mention. There still exists potential to further improve PERC products, and approaches such as adapting the technology to larger wafers makes PERC all the more attractive. With two sizes to choose from – 182 mm (M10) and 210 mm (G12) – for larger wafers, M10 finds favor with integrated companies for different reasons.

TaiyangNews’ first conference day, titled PERC Modules with M10/182 mm Cells Towards Very High Efficiency Products did a deep dive into the specifics of M10 wafer-based modules. Three leading vertically integrated PV manufacturers – JinkoSolar, JA Solar and LONGi – who are currently increasingly focusing on 182 mm wafer-based modules presented their views on the all-round benefits of this type of solar panels. This report provides a summary of the company presentations at the event and descriptions of their 182 mm based module products.
