  • SECI has invited bids for 1.2 GW of ISTS-connected solar PV capacity under tranche-XVI
  • Eligible bidders stand to win a maximum of 600 MW capacity for projects to be built on a BOO basis
  • Winners will enter into a 25-year PPA with SECI who will sell the power to various buying entities

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has launched a tender under tranche XVI of the inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected solar PV projects with a combined 1,200 MW capacity.

Eligible projects must be set up on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis. The minimum capacity a single bidder can bid for is fixed at 50 MW while the maximum can go up to 600 MW.

Solar modules to be used for the projects need to be sourced from the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-I of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). Bidders can also come from countries with whom India shares a land border.

Winners will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SECI that plans to sell the power generated to different buying entities.

SECI launched the tender on May 29, 2024. A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for June 6, 2024. The last date for bid submission is July 12, 2024. Further details are available on SECI’s website.

Earlier this year in January 2024, SECI launched the ISTS tranche-XIV solar PV tender for 1.5 GW capacity (see Indian Agencies Launch Tenders For PV Generation & Modules).
