  • BayWa has announced the promotion of Daniel Gäfke to the group's management board 
  • Director of Projects for APAC, Gäfke will be responsible for managing the group's Projects business in APAC and EMEA 
  • CEO Matthias Taft will continue to oversee the US Projects business as well as the offshore wind business  

Germany headquartered renewable energy company BayWa r e has promoted Daniel Gäfke to the company's Group Management Board, while also tasking him with the responsibility for its onshore Wind and Solar Projects business. 

Gäfke joined the group in 2016 and has been looking after the company's growth in the APAC region, including market entries and expansion throughout Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan and Australia, according to the management.    

Currently the company's director of Projects for Asia Pacific (APAC), Gäfke will also be in charge of managing the group's Energy Solutions business. His responsibilities will include handling the EMEA and APAC Projects businesses.   

His appointment to the board aligns with the group's focus on global expansion of its wind and solar projects business.   

BayWa plans to triple the volume of its current project business by 2026 and expand the independent power producer (IPP) portfolio to 3 GW. To focus its energies on the wind and solar business, BayWa put up its international solar trading business on the market in M2023 (see BayWa To Offload International Solar Trading Business).  

Gäfke will join as the board member on November 1, 2023, working alongside CEO Matthias Taft, CFO Mihaela Seidl and COO Günter Haug. Taft will continue to steer the group's US Projects business along with the offshore wind business.
