  • Sharp has unveiled a new solar module for the distributed generation segment
  • It is an all-black n-type TOPCon solar module with 420W output and 21.51% efficiency
  • The M10 wafer size module uses 16 busbars and has a temperature coefficient of -0.300%/°C

Solar PV manufacturer Sharp Energy Solutions Europe has expanded its half-cut cell portfolio with the addition of a new all-black n-type TOPCon module with 420 W output and efficiency going up to 21.51%.

The NU-JC420B is based on the M10 wafer size of 182 mm, with each module equipped with 3 small junction boxes fitted with bypass diode. Sharp says this reduces heat transfer to the cells above, thus enhancing the panel’s life and improving system performance.

The new module has a low temperature coefficient of -0.300%/°C. It uses round ribbons in the 16-busbar configuration. While reducing the cell’s susceptibility to microcracks, this measure is aimed at improving module reliability, according to the manufacturer.

It weighs 20.7 kg and has a slim 30 mm frame height with 1,722 x 1,134 dimensions. These features, explains the company, make it easy to install for residential, small-scale commercial and industrial rooftop systems with seamless system integration.

Carrying IEC61215 and IEC61730 certifications, the panel also passed the EN13501 test, proving its mettle in the event of fire, says Sharp.

“With the incorporation of the new black-framed half-cut cell NU-JC420B panel, our product portfolio is expanding to include a module designed for easy handling and installation in residential and small-scale C&I rooftop setups, while ensuring high performance and reliability,” said EMEA Sharp Energy Solutions Europe Sales Director Andrew Lee.

The manufacturer is offering 25-year EU End User product guarantee for the new module and 25-year performance guarantee. The module is compatible with the majority of mainstream optimizers, inverters and mounting systems since it comes with an MC4 connector, it added.

In May 2023, Sharp launched the NB-JD570 bifacial module with 570 W output and up to 22.07% module efficiency (see Sharp’s New TOPCon Solar Module).
