Wallbox‘s Barcelona headquarters has reshaped how companies generate, store, and use electricity. The company installed its SIRIUS energy management system as a greener and cheaper alternative to upgrading its network infrastructure. The need actually popped up when the company expanded its corporate headquarters by 11,000 square meters and 650 workstations, which made the 173 kW grid connection insufficient.
Instead of spending on upgrading the grid infrastructure, Wallbox took the sustainable and green energy route. SIRIUS integrates the power grid with distributed energy resources, such as a fleet of 23 Nissan Leaf electric vehicles with bi-directional charging, a 400 kW photovoltaic installation, and 560 kWh on-site battery storage. The system has helped Wallbox reduce its CO2 emissions by 73 metric tonnes and its energy bills by over 40%. In addition, SIRIUS enabled cost savings of 0.5 million euros compared to grid expansion through the flexible and intelligent design of the decentralized energy sources.
