  • SJVN has issued a request for selection round for renewable energy developers
  • It seeks supply of 600 MW FDRE capacity along with energy storage with ISTS connectivity
  • An additional 600 MW capacity will be available under a greenshoe option

Indian hydropower utility SJVN Limited has launched a competitive solicitation bid for the supply of 600 MW firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) power projects with energy storage systems. It has also added a greenshoe option for up to 600 MW of additional capacity.

Under the greenshoe option, the buying entity may procure additional power than tendered to meet its renewable purchase obligation and energy storage obligation.

SJVN specifies that the projects may be located anywhere and need to be connected to the grid via the inter-state transmission system (ISTS).

Qualifying bidders will need to quote for a minimum 50 MW capacity while the maximum cumulative is 600 MW, added in multiples of 10 MW. The agency has set a minimum capacity of 30 MW for projects located in India’s North-Eastern and special category states.

Solar modules to be deployed for these projects must be listed in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).

The state-owned entity launched the request for selection (RfS) round on March 27, 2024. The last date to submit bids is May 28, 2024. Details of the tender with tender number SJVN/CC-Delhi/REIA/2024/FDRE-2 are available on SJVN’s website.

In February 2024, SJVN launched a call for 1.5 GW of ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid capacity (see Indian PSU Seeking Hybrid RE Power Project Developers).
