- The World Bank’s RESPITE program announces a new solar and energy storage project tender for Togo

The World Bank has launched a renewable energy tender for the Republic of Togo seeking bidders for a solar PV power plant and storage system under its Regional Emergency Solar Energy Intervention Project (RESPITE).
This international tender has Liberia-located RESPITE Project Regional Coordination Unit (RCU) as the procurement agency.
It entails design, supply and installation of the project within 12 to 16 months. Eligible bidders can review the tender documents by contacting the RCU Project Coordinator.
Interested companies will need to submit hard copies of technical and financial bids. These will need to be accompanied by a declaration of bid guarantee.
Launched on April 2, 2024, the bids for this tender will be admitted till June 4, 2024. Details are available on the World Bank’s website.
The RESPITE program was officially launched by the bank in February 2023. It aims to support close to 106 MW grid-connected solar PV capacity in the African nations of Chad, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Togo that are known to have one of the lowest electrification rates and high electricity costs in Sub-Saharan Africa (see New World Bank Project To back 106 MW PV In Africa).
