  • Electrica of Romania has launched a tender seeking an EPC bidder for a 12 MW DC solar plant
  • It is being developed by Green Energy Consultancy & Investments which it acquired in February this year
  • The project is at RTB stage and located in Vulturul commune of the country

Electrica SA, an electricity distributor in Romania, is looking for EPC service providers to set up a 12 MW DC/9.75 MW AC solar power plant, to be located in Vulturul commune in Romania’s Vrancea County, which is being developed by its project company Green Energy Consultancy & Investments SRL.

Electrica acquired Green Energy in February 2023 this year for an undisclosed amount, saying the acquisition is part of the group’s 2019-2023 strategy to increase the role of renewable energy in its portfolio.

The Vulturu project has also already reached ready-to-build (RTB) status in Focsani County. Successful bidder will need to independently mange the implementation of the project connecting it to the grid.

Successful bidder will need to select the most optimum modules, with minimum 21% efficiency and 550W output, that will last at least 30 years and selected from tier 1 manufacturers as identified by the Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BloombergNEF).

Last date for interested companies to submit their bids is July 27, 2023, as per the tender notification on the utility’s website.

In March 2023, Electrica acquired another solar PV company called Sunwind Energy that’s developing a 27 MW Satu Mare 2 Solar Project in Botiz commune of Satu Mare County. This project is at RTB stage.
