The Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) plans to hold the country's 4th renewable energy auction with 3.3 GW capacity on November 22, 2022, comprising 1.8 GW solar and 1.5 GW onshore wind energy technologies.

Solar power projects will need to come online and start delivering power from March 15, 2025 for a period of 12 years. Projects with storage component will be considered under this round.

Prequalification documents will be released on August 23, 2022 with last date to submit the same as November 15, 2022. Further details of the auction are available on MITECO's website.

So far, Spain has concluded 2 renewable energy auctions under the Renewable Energy Economic Regime (REER), awarding 2.902 GW of solar and 3.256 GW of wind energy. Recently, the ministry launched its 3rd renewable auction for 520 MW including 140 MW reserved for distributed PV (see Spain Announces 520 MW Renewables Auction).
