Spain Launches 4th Renewable Energy Auction

• MITECO has pegged November 22, 2022 as the date when it will hold 4^th renewable energy auction in Spain
• Of the 3.3 GW capacity allocated for this round, 1.8 GW has been reserved for solar PV and 1.5 GW for onshore wind
• Winning solar power plants stand to win 12-year power supply contracts from March 15, 2025

The Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) plans to hold the country's 4^th renewable energy auction with 3.3 GW capacity on November 22, 2022, comprising 1.8 GW solar and 1.5 GW onshore wind energy technologies.

Solar power projects will need to come online and start delivering power from March 15, 2025 for a period of 12 years. Projects with storage component will be considered under this round.

Prequalification documents will be released on August 23, 2022 with last date to submit the same as November 15, 2022. Further details of the auction are available on MITECO's website.

So far, Spain has concluded 2 renewable energy auctions under the Renewable Energy Economic Regime (REER), awarding 2.902 GW of solar and 3.256 GW of wind energy.
