Key Takeaways
  • EP Cube displayed its EP CUBE Single-Phase 2.0 for new or existing residential and Three-Phase Light C&I Solution for small commercial PV-plus-storage systems

  • The residential system supports a maximum PV capacity of 15 kW and lists its storage capacity range of 5 to 40 kWh with a rated 10 kVA full-load power

  • It also integrates with the company’s upcoming 7.4 kW AC EV charger, updated EP Cube App, and a new HMI for a connected and smarter home energy ecosystem

EP Cube, an independent subsidiary and residential energy storage brand of Canadian Solar Inc., introduced its residential EP CUBE Single-Phase 2.0 and Three-Phase Light C&I Solution at Solar & Storage Live UK 2026 in Birmingham. The company's booth also displayed an EV charger, a Human Machine Interface (HMI) display, and a new dynamic tariff pricing AI mode as part of a smart home energy ecosystem.

Both energy storage systems (ESS) feature an 'All-in-One' configuration, which combines a hybrid inverter and modular battery packs, stacked on one another. They use lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery units, each measuring 600 × 266 × 200 mm and providing 5 kWh of storage capacity at a 51.2 V rated voltage. While the configuration and battery pack are identical, their inverter and total storage capacities vary. The EP CUBE Single-Phase 2.0 features a 10 kVA hybrid inverter and a storage capacity range of 5 to 40 kWh by connecting to eight battery packs. With 4 built-in MPPTs, the inverter supports up to 15 kW of PV capacity with a 600 V maximum PV input voltage.

In comparison, the Three-Phase Light C&I Solution combines a higher-capacity hybrid inverter (12 kVA) and storage capacities of 10 to 40 kWh using the same 5 kWh battery packs mentioned above. Its inverter lists a higher PV capacity of 24 kW and a maximum input voltage of 1,000 V, though the MPPT numbers remain the same.

The product datasheets specify compatibility with new and existing PV arrays to make an AC-coupled PV-plus-storage system. The residential ESS supports up to 10 kVA (single-phase) emergency backup within 10 ms of a grid outage, while this function is optional for the C&I product. It switches to off-grid mode in less than 20 ms of a grid blackout and delivers up to 12 kVA (3-phase) backup power. Backup duration varies based on total connected storage capacity, rated discharge limit, and operational conditions, among others.

EP Cube also introduced its new AC EV chargers in two variants – 7.4 kW single-phase and 11 kW 3-phase. According to the company, it planned to launch the 3-phase charger by the end of September 2026, while the launch of its single-phase counterpart is slated for Q4 2026. The single-phase charger supports direct connection with the EP Cube Single-Phase 2.0 through a dedicated built-in port, enabling a connected home energy ecosystem.

These ESSs (mentioned above) integrate with the EP Cube App (installed on the user's device) and help monitor and support multiple applications, including PV self-consumption maximization and time-of-use (TOU) tariffs, among others. It also enables smart EV charging from excess PV generation during peak hours and use of low-priced electricity at night or during low solar generation periods. This increases PV self-consumption and optimizes charging costs. The company says it has updated the app with features that support the UK's dynamic electricity tariff management services. It added that these features will soon be embedded in a new Dynamic Pricing AI mode for more accurate low-price capturing and battery charging/discharging decisions.

EP Cube is also expecting to include new Open APIs with the app. This will enable the home ESS platform to integrate with an existing third-party home energy management system (HEMS), like Home Assistant, to make the connected energy ecosystem smarter. In addition to remote monitoring and data visualization, the booth displayed the new 7-inch HMI for local data accumulation and visualization with local data storage, supporting data independence for end users.
