GoodWe unveiled its residential ESA All-in-One and ESA C&I storage system at an event in Nantes, France
The single-phase residential system integrates a hybrid inverter, battery storage, and an energy management system within a single platform
In comparison, the C&I ESS pairs a 3-phase hybrid inverter, storage, and the grid in a DC-coupled architecture to make a PV-plus-storage system
Chinese PV inverter and energy storage system (ESS) provider, GoodWe, launched its ESA All-in-One and ESA C&I ESS at an invitation-only event in Nantes, France, targeting the country’s residential and commercial & industrial (C&I) consumers.
The ESA All-in-One residential ESS combines a hybrid inverter, battery stack, and an energy management system within a single unit. The inverter features a full-load single-phase power output range of 3 to 10 kW. The company says these inverters are designed to support up to 200% PV oversizing relative to their respective rated power output (AC) through built-in MPPTs for maximum solar harvesting.
On the storage side, the inverter unit connects to a battery unit (5, 6, 8, and 9 kWh) via a dedicated port. A single ESS platform can reach 48 kWh by stacking up to six battery units of the same or different capacities. It also supports mixing new and old batteries.
In comparison, the ESA C&I product combines an external ETR125 hybrid inverter and a BAT208/261 cabinet-based storage system. This 125 kW (3-phase) inverter also supports up to 200% PV oversizing (DC/AC) through a higher number of MPPTs (up to 10). The storage cabinet features battery packs, each rated at 52.24 kWh, connected vertically in two capacity configurations – 208.9 and 261 kWh. The inverter connects the PV inputs and battery output terminals through a common DC bus, creating a DC-coupled 125 kW/261 kWh PV-plus-storage system with a 3-phase grid.
Both products support capacity expansion. The residential model’s storage capacity can be expanded up to 108 kWh, while its power capacity remains the same. The C&I inverter supports up to 15 units in parallel with a total capacity of 1.875 MW, while up to four battery cabinets can be connected in parallel for a total storage capacity of 1,044 kWh.
During a grid outage, ESA All-in-One switches to emergency backup mode within 4 ms via a built-in STS switch rather than an external main distribution box. This integrated architecture provides up to 10 kW of emergency backup power to all household loads, unlike traditional home backup systems that support only a few dedicated devices or utilities. In the case of the DC-coupled C&I ESS, the listed switching speed and emergency backup power are less than 10 ms and 125 kW, respectively, while its backup duration depends on the battery's rated discharge capacity.
The company specifies a battery life of more than 10,000 cycles for both products. Their rated ambient operating temperature range is -35 to +60°C.
