Midea Energy, the residential energy storage system (ESS) division of home appliance maker Midea Group, showcased the PowerNexus All-in-One and OmniX standalone ESS at Solar & Storage Live UK 2026.
The PowerNexus series features a built-in hybrid inverter and battery storage, and is available in single- and 3-phase configurations. The single-phase configuration is available in two power classes: 3-8 kW and 10-12 kW. The 3-8 kW variant uses 5 kWh battery packs, while the 10-12 kW variant uses 7 kWh battery packs. Both variants support up to 12 battery packs stacked vertically, for respective storage capacities of 5-60 kWh and 7-84 kWh.
The 3-8 kW variant is equipped with 2 or 3 MPPTs and supports a PV array range of 6 to 12.8 kW. The 10-12 kW variant features 4 MPPTs, supporting a PV capacity of 20 to 24 kW. Excess PV generation charges the battery, which can provide emergency backup during a grid outage. The ESS switches to backup mode within 10 ms of a grid outage.
The 3-phase ESS has a rated power output of 5 to 15 kW and a storage capacity of 5 to 60 kWh or 7 to 84 kWh. It has a maximum PV capacity of 30 kW with 2 MPPTs and a transition period to backup mode of <10 ms.
In comparison, the OmniX ESS connects a standalone hybrid inverter (nominal power output range of 15-30 kW) and an 84 kWh storage bank with external wiring. It uses 314 Ah and 7 kWh battery units for storage. This ESS features 3 MPPTs and supports up to 200% DC/AC oversizing of the respective full-load power output, with a maximum of 60 kW PV capacity. According to the company, its capacity can be expanded to up to 90-180 kW/ 504 kWh by connecting six units in parallel. It can be paired with the grid in an AC-coupled PV-plus-storage configuration as well as with a diesel generator via a dedicated port.
Midea Energy's sister company, Hiconics, also displayed the PowerInfi and PowerX1 residential ESS at the show.
