Key Takeaways
  • Neuron Energy has commissioned its maiden BESS manufacturing facility

  • Located in Talegaon, Maharashtra, the plant has 5 GWh annual capacity and can produce up to 1,000 BESS units each year

  • The automated facility will cater to both domestic and overseas markets

Neuron Energy, the electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturer from India, has ventured into grid-scale energy storage with a battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing factory in Maharashtra.

The Talegaon facility has an annual production capacity of 5 GWh. Annually, it can roll out up to 1,000 containerized BESS units for supply across the solar and grid infrastructure. It will store excess power generated for dispatch during peak demand.

The company has invested INR 100 crore in this automated factory, spanning 7 acres. It will cater to solar developers, the commercial and industrial (C&I) segment, and utilities. Neuron also has an export strategy for this factory, as it plans to allocate 40% of annual production to overseas markets.

Mumbai-based Neuron is a lithium-ion battery supplier for EVs and EV chargers, providing batteries for 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers, light commercial vehicles, and drone applications.

Neuron Energy Co-Founder and CEO Pratik Kamdar calls it a natural progression for the company in advanced energy solutions, as demand for grid-scale storage grows across the power ecosystem.

“This is a defining step for us as we expand from EV batteries into large-scale energy solutions, supporting solar projects, industries, and utilities across India and global markets,” stated the management.
