The proposed 100 MW floating solar power plant for Maduru Oya reservoir is part of the 400 MW solar plant of Sri Lanka's Soorya Bala Sangramaya Phase IV program, which also aims for 2x100 MW solar plants in Pooneryn and 100 MW in Monaragala.

Construction for the largest floating solar system in the Netherlands is starting in April. This 1.85 MW solar power capacity will be deployed on a water reservoir in Lingewaard in the central part of the country.
