The National Energy Commission (CNE) of Chile has launched a 5,250 GWh energy procurement tender to source this capacity annually for 15 years, starting from the year 2027. The tender is open to both local and international players.

According to the CNE, Chile’s operational solar PV capacity till August 2021-end was 4.4 GW, with another 3.37 GW under construction, 26.9 GW having secured environmental approval, and close to 8 GW at qualification stage.

During November 2017 auction, Chile contracted 2.2 TWh renewable energy capacity with an average price of $0.0325 per kWh, while the lowest bid was submitted as $0.0218 per kWh.

The Chilean National Energy Commission (CNE) says it has received offers from 29 domestic and international power generation companies in response to its 2.31 TWh renewable energy auction, and the lowest bid has gone down as low as $0.01332 per kWh.
