4 GW solar power capacity in Tamil Nadu: The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has announced its plans to develop 4 GW solar power capacity in the state to meet growing energy demand.

Under its Solar Energy Policy 2019 that has become effective from February 4, 2019, Tamil Nadu is aiming for 9 GW solar by 2023. At the end of March 2018, the state's solar power capacity stood at a little over 2 GW.
