Key Takeaways
  • 3S showcased BIPV application concepts for standard roofs, hipped roofs, colored roofs, and façades

  • The portfolio combines standard, custom-made, colored and low-glare modules with dedicated roof and façade system components

  • The TeraSlate platform delivers up to 196 W/m² with multiple module formats for different building applications

Swiss building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) manufacturer 3S Swiss Solar Solutions showcased its TeraSlate portfolio at Intersolar Europe 2026. Speaking to TaiyangNews, Nadja Pörtner, Event Manager at 3S, said the company's BIPV products are designed to provide both weather protection and electricity generation while offering a range of color options for roof and façade applications.

The standard roof application featured the company's TeraSlate BIPV roof modules, designed to replace conventional roofing materials. The frameless modules are available in 4 standard formats: L (935 × 1,300 mm), Q (720 × 1,300 mm), M (935 × 875 mm), and S (720 × 875 mm), delivering power outputs of 225 W, 165 W, 150 W, and 110 W, respectively. According to the company, the modules provide up to 196 W/m² and feature a self-cleaning frameless design. They are manufactured in Switzerland and backed by a 10-year product warranty, a 25-year performance warranty, and a 40-year weather-resistance warranty.

For hipped roof applications, 3S combined its standard TeraSlate roof modules with custom-made modules to accommodate roof layouts that cannot be covered using the standard module formats alone.

The colored roof concept showcased the TeraSlate roof modules in 8 standard colors: Clay Brown, Brick Brown, Chestnut Brown, Acorn Brown, Slate Grey, Stone Grey, Forest Green and Fjord Blue. The colored roof solution combines colored modules with matching aluminum composite panels for non-active roof areas and custom-made modules for different roof designs while maintaining a consistent appearance.

The façade concept featured a flush-mounted system for installing glass-glass modules on insulated walls for new buildings, renovation projects, and retrofit applications. The modules incorporate a centered cell matrix, which the company says provides a more uniform appearance while improving winter energy yield. They are available in 4 standard sizes and can be complemented with custom-made modules for customized layouts.

The company also showcased an overlapping façade system with frameless modules, designed for different façade substructures. According to 3S, the system uses vertical profiles to accommodate installation tolerances and supports custom-made modules. Low-glare Satinato modules were also presented for roof and façade applications where reduced reflections are required.
