Enel Green Power from Italy introduced a new line of heterojunction solar panels called 3SUN, consisting of 3 variants – M40, M40 BOLD and B60 during Intersolar 2023. The specs for M40 and M40 Bold are nearly the same – both the modules are built with 120 of 1/3 cells of G12 size and interconnected with MBB layout, and thus come with the same dimensions of 1,754 x 1,096 x 30 mm as well as a weight of 21 kg. The major difference is in their power and efficiency.
The M40, characterized as the performance product of the company, is claimed to have an unbelievably high module efficiency of 25% and a corresponding power of 480 W. The M40 Bold has a rated efficiency of 24.5% and 470 W power. Both the modules are designed for rooftop applications.
The 3SUN B60 Series, on the other hand, is built with 120 halfcells based on the G12 format. It has a higher power output of 680 W. This product comes with a module efficiency of 24%. It is bifacial too, with a bifaciality rating of 95 % ± 5%. The dimensions of the module are 2,172 x 1,303 x 35 mm, while it weighs 36 kg.
Enel's 3 SUN is currently building Europe's largest cell/module factory, a 3 GW HJT fab in Catania, Italy, which is about to start production soon (see UniCredit Shells Out €560 Million For Enel's HJT Fab).
