Key Takeaways
  • AlphaESS unveiled its new AI energy agent, AlphaQ, during separate events in Belgium and the Netherlands

  • In AI mode, it can optimize and update the battery charging/discharging plan every 15 minutes

  • The company also unveiled its VitaPower 3600 AC ESS, which has been opened for pre-orders in the Netherlands

Home and commercial and industrial (C&I) energy storage system (ESS) provider AlphaESS launched its latest AlphaQ AI-based energy agent at two different partner events in Belgium and the Netherlands, targeting Benelux countries.

This AI agent, which users can download and install on their mobile devices as an app, works with AlphaESS's existing energy management system (EMS). The company says the app provides holistic insights into the home energy ecosystem, unlike generic answers from an AI chatbot. By processing real-time operational data from the EMS, it gives users clear insights into what their energy systems are doing and what is likely to happen next. This comprehensive insight helps users take informed decisions without interpreting complex performance graphs and charts, the company states.

Users can select AI mode for automatic battery charging/discharging every 15 minutes based on dynamic electricity tariffs, depending on regional regulations and European tariff service providers. This mode uses its embedded AI algorithm to forecast tariffs and PV generation while assessing household load patterns for more accurate scheduling. This agent also supports user energy system health checkups by using fault logs and real-time data, helping installers take preventive measures against potential issues.

AlphaESS also showcased its VitaPower 3600 AC residential ESS at these events. Equipped with a 3.6 kW bidirectional inverter and four lithium iron phosphate battery banks, each rated at 4 kWh, the system offers a maximum storage capacity of 16 kWh. It lists a nominal AC (single-phase) power output of 800 W for a plug-and-play installation, while the maximum power output is configurable to 3.6 kW with additional wiring. In both configurations, it switches to off-grid mode within 10 ms of a grid outage and supports full-load backup power of 3.6 kW until the battery reaches its discharge limit. The company specifies an operational ambient temperature range of -20 to +55 °C for this product. The company opened pre-orders for the ESS in the Netherlands on September 22.
