Austria-based mounting systems supplier ALUMERO developed a containerized PV system solution called Solarfold, based on a foldable mounting system. A single unit is rated at up to 134 kWp and integrates pre-wired PV modules and an inverter.
Solarfold uses a semi-automatic electric drive to unfold the pre-wired array from the container onto aluminum rails anchored to the ground. Once unfolded, the system extends to almost 130 m. It can be supplied without storage for on-grid use or paired with a storage container for on-grid and fully off-grid operation. Applications listed by ALUMERO include farming, construction sites, events, energy communities, emergency areas, and EV charging stations.
ALUMERO describes Solarfold’s rail system as lightweight, environmentally friendly aluminum, but does not say whether it is recycled. The company separately says its wider mounting-system portfolio uses recycled aluminum. This portfolio covers flat, metal, tiled, green, and corrugated-sheet roofs, as well as laminate clamps for frameless modules, fixed ground mounts, and carports with optional EV charging. In addition to mounting solutions, ALUMERO also developed a software tool called solar.pro.tool that uses roof geometry, site, and weather data to generate a mounting-system configuration and bill of materials, in eight steps. ALUMERO has manufacturing operations in Austria, Poland, Slovenia, and the Netherlands.
