Antaisolar, a well-known Chinese solar tracking system and fixed tilt racking solution provider established in 2006, exhibited its latest 2P Universal series tracking system and roof mounting systems at the recently held SNEC 2024 event in Shanghai, China. The company has 6 production facilities, 4 of which are in mainland China and 2 overseas- 1 in Turkey and 1 in Indonesia. Speaking to TaiyangNews during the exhibition, Antaisolar highlighted the 2P Universal series tracker and displayed rooftop racking systems.
Drive mechanism
The TAI Universal series tracker displayed at the event is a multiple slew-drive single-axis independent-2P tracking system. That means each tracker has more than 1 slew-drive mechanism, which can independently and accurately rotate the PV modules connected in a 2P portrait configuration in sync with the Sun’s movement from east to west, noted the company. The tracker’s multiple slew-drive rotating mechanism offers advantages in terms of increased PV module load-carrying capacity, enhanced tracking precision, and flexibility in undulated terrain. According to TAI Universal’s technical specifications, measuring up to 70 meters in length, the tracker can accommodate 4 strings of 1,500 V system voltage in a 2P configuration. The latest tracker design supports 90 to 120 commercial modules per structure depending on the module size. Its wide east-to-west rotational range of +/- 60° over an undulated terrain of up to 11° slope in a north-south direction ensures higher power generation over different types of terrain, added Antai.
Structure
In addition to a flexible driving mechanism, the company says the tracker’s structure also offers high reliability and versatility. Antai offers structures made of different grade steel materials as per customer demand—pre-galvanized, hot-dipped galvanized, and magnesium-zinc-coated—which enhances the structure’s reliability in long-term exposure to external stresses. Its structures are designed for easy installation over a wide range of foundations, such as driven piles, concrete, and PHC. The company says the TAI Universal series tracker is certified to experience extreme wind loads of up to 55 m/s, as per ASCE 7-10 standards. Antai offers a 10-year standard warranty on the drive mechanism, according to the technical datasheet.
Control
The tracker maker highlighted its upgraded tracker control unit (TCU), which enhances system uptime by operating on multiple sources of power supply, such as connected string power, inverter power, plant auxiliary power, or inbuilt lithium battery power. The latest control unit, with its astronomical algorithm coupled with an intelligent algorithm improves tracking accuracy up to +/- 2° and possesses features like nighttime stow and backtracking. Antai noted its wireless communication under Zigbee wireless protocol helps save on control wire costs during installation.
Alongside the 2P tracker, Antai displayed multiple PV module mounting systems for different roof applications.
Metal roof solutions
The company showcased racking systems under the MetaRoof brand—for clamps with rails and mono-rail application. Its clamps with rail-type racking systems are available in 2 models—L-feet with C-Rail and Trapezoid L-feet with C-Rail. The L-feet mounting system over the C-rail features good flexibility to match various types of roof clamps. On the other hand, the Trapezoid L-feet model’s non-penetrating roof clamp mounting ensures watertightness of the roof structure, according to the datasheet.
Other types of roofs
Along with metal roof racking solutions, Antai displayed solutions for roofs with plain tile or slate tiles under the MetaRoof-TR Hook System. The company also introduced the latest TPO waterproof anchor system for flat roofs. This racking system can be applied over flat metal rooftops via a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) waterproof membrane.
