China's battery storage giant CATL's innovative modular outdoor liquid cooling LFP BESS, EnerOne, won the EES award 2022 (Electrical Energy Storage) for its design and engineering that makes it suitable for harsh climatic conditions.
EnerOne is an outdoor liquid cooling battery energy storage system. It is built on lithium iron phosphate cells with a nominal capacity of 372.7 kWh and a 1.69 m2 footprint. The 280 Ah cells have a discharge rating of 1C and a lifespan of up to 10,000 cycles.
The system is designed for inverters rated between 600 and 1500 V. It can be used in a variety of outdoor applications due to the IP66 rating of the key components and the ambient temperature range of -30 to +55 °C. It passed essential tests at the cell, module, and rack levels, as well as a propagation test at the rack level, without the need for a fire suppression system.
The design and engineering of the fully integrated system, which offers up new opportunities for installations in harsh climatic zones such as the Middle East, South-East Asia and Africa, received much praise from the award committee. As of the end of 2021, CATL's EnerOne solution has been deployed in more than 25 countries with proven track records of more than 11 GWh.
