Chemitek Solar has developed 2 new products, AgroPV Wash Protect and AgroPV Water Softening Agent, for agrivoltaic systems
The solutions target challenges such as dust, residues, and mineral buildup on panels in agricultural environments
Independent testing confirmed the products’ compatibility with crops and their safety for long-term use
Portugal-based Chemitek Solar, a developer of cleaning and coating solutions for installed PV panles, has announced 2 new cleaning solutions for agrivoltaics (agri-PV), named AgroPV Wash Protect (AWP) and AgroPV Water Softening Agent (AWS).
These products were developed as part of AGROPV@INNOV, a project supported by NORTE 2030 and co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), under the project reference NORTE2030-FEDER-01170100 – SGO 17250.
The company describes these 2 solutions as effective, adaptable to different agricultural environments, and designed with sustainability in mind.
Both products are chemical concentrates that are diluted in water before being applied on to the solar panels. AWP is used to wash and clean modules of dirt and residues, particularly in agricultural environments. Additionally, the solution acts as an antistatic coating that helps delay soiling before the next cleaning cycle. AWS, on the other hand, helps soften hard and very hard water commonly used in agricultural areas, preventing mineral deposits on the panels.
The company states that these products have been independently tested for compatibility with seed germination and plant growth. They were also assessed for biodegradability and ecotoxicity and certified as safe for both solar panels and crops.
According to Chemitek’s CEO, César Martins, agri-PV systems are a growing segment worldwide, and the company aims to develop solutions tailored to their challenges.
Chemitek also offers a similar portfolio of cleaning and water-softening solutions for utility-, commercial-, and residential-scale PV systems. These are branded as Solar Wash Protect and Water Softening Agent.
The newly developed agriculture-focused solutions are scheduled for an official global launch at Intersolar Europe 2026.
