China S.C presented turnkey cell production lines for HJT, TOPCon, and TBC technologies
Its vertical LPCVD system is designed to reduce maintenance requirements and factory floor space
The quartz-free reactor uses stainless steel and has a stated preventive maintenance cycle of more than 12 months
A turnkey provider for solar cell manufacturing, China S.C presented its latest tools at the TaiyangNews Solar Cell & Module Equipment and Processing Materials Conference. Archon Lai, the company's Chief Marketing Officer, focused his presentation on its latest quartz-free LPCVD solution.
The company offers a heterojunction (HJT) turnkey line that can process full and half-cut wafers of G12 size. With its pilot line, the company is testing thin wafers in the range of 50-60 µm. Lai also presented the company’s turnkey solution for TOPCon-based back-contact (TBC) technology. A TBC line from one of its customers achieved a production yield of 95% and a cell efficiency of 26.7%.
For mainstream TOPCon, China S.C offers turnkey lines with two routes: PECVD and LPCVD. The company says it makes all equipment in-house, from wet chemical tools to furnaces, PECVD, ALD, LPCVD, et cetera. Based on customer feedback on its LPCVD, China S.C developed a new-generation LPCVD tool with a vertical reactor. Given the maintenance and uptime challenges of traditional LPCVD tools, the company developed this vertical LPCVD tool, which not only reduces maintenance but also uses less space. Lai emphasized that for a 10 GW capacity, it requires 19 units of 6-tube horizontal LPCVD occupying about 3,257 m² of area, while only 8 units of 4-cylinder and one unit of 3-cylinder vertical LPCVD are sufficient. This setup covers 2,180 m², about 1/3rd of the area required for a traditional LPCVD tool.
A key feature of China S.C’s vertical LPCVD tool is that it is completely quartz-free. The reactor interior is fully stainless steel, with a preventive maintenance cycle of over 12 months. This can significantly reduce operating costs and avoid long lead times, especially when quartz tubes must be imported.
