paXos Consulting & Engineering, based in Cologne, Germany, has developed an innovative charging plug, the Cool-Load Megawatt (CLMW), which has earned it the Power2Drive AWARD. This patented fast-charging connector is a standout in the market, capable of delivering up to 12 MW of power at an impressive 99.78% efficiency, making it the perfect choice for rapidly charging EVs like trucks, buses, construction equipment, as well as heavy-duty marine and aviation applications.
The key to CLMW's performance lies in its ringshaped radial connection between the plug and the socket, which ensures minimal contact resistance and facilitates direct cooling. This not only results in substantial energy savings but also allows the plug to endure up to 100,000 charging cycles. Moreover, the sleek and compact design of the CLMW provides scalability, making it possible to increase its capacity to an impressive 40 MW in the future.
With its large contact area, the plug's unique ring structure enables low contact resistance, while offering direct cooling of the contact rings. The charging cable's high flexibility, coupled with the plug's effortless insertion into the charging socket at any angle and without force, further enhances its user-friendliness. By delivering outstanding efficiency, the CLMW not only saves energy and reduces cooling costs but also leads to shorter charging times, making it an enticing technology for various industries, including commercial vehicles, marine, mining, and aerospace sectors.
