Ecoprogetti, a leading European PV equipment maker, recently introduced its new LED-based sun simulator ECOSUN-NOVA.

This latest characterization tool, equipped with advanced features, is suitable for contemporary and emerging cell technologies, emphasized the maker. The redesigned LED light source features a spectral deviation of less than 13.7% and a spectral coverage of 98% to 100%, referring to a wavelength band of 300 nm to 1,300 nm, offering improved accuracy in sunlight simulation. This tool, capable of customizing the light spectrum by controlling 16 separate LED channels, can support standard settings of AM 1.5, or AM 0, and other custom configurations. It offers up to 99.9% repeatability in mass-scale and research-level measurement with adjustable flash duration ranging from 100 ms to steady-state, added the company.

ECOSUN-NOVA is compatible with all commercially available cell technologies - TOPCon, HJT, and back contact. The tool offers the flexibility to arrange the light source in different positions and configurations – top and/or bottom. Optionally, the sun-simulator can also accomplish other characterizations such as EL and hi-pot.

On the top, the sun-simulator can also characterize advanced cell architecture including tandem, perovskite, and quantum dot. Ecoprogetti says this new sun-simulator is awaiting patent approval.
