During Intersolar 2023, Canadian Solar, a tier 1 solar module supplier headquartered in Canada, unveiled a high-power module series based on the TOPCon cell structure. The company's TOPBiHiKu7 series bifacial product range, based on the G12 wafer format, is promoted for utility-scale solar projects. While there are several variants of the series, the top of the range has an efficiency of 21.7%. Measuring 2,384 x 1,303 x 33 mm and weighing 37.8 kg, these double-glass-panel bifacial modules feature 2 mm glass on both sides. The TOPBiHiKu7 series is expected to be available in Q3 2023.
In addition to the solar modules, a residential storage solution called EP Cube was also at the center of Canadian Solar's promotion list. It is an all-in-one energy storage solution that is designed to meet the needs of homeowners who are looking to boost the efficiency of their solar PV systems and reduce their energy bills. Following its successful launch in North America in September 2022 and subsequent introductions in Spain and Italy in Q1 of 2023, EP Cube is now introduced into the German market.
EP Cube offers a compact and lightweight design, with a thickness of just 24 cm and a weight of only 35 kg per battery module. Its installation is hassle-free, quick, and secure, thanks to the EP Cube 2.0 bracket. Commissioning the EP Cube is designed to be seamless, facilitated by a user-friendly mobile phone app that provides step-by-step instructions.
This residential energy storage solution is based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology and features an integrated hybrid inverter along with stackable storage modules. It supports both AC and DC coupling, boasting an impressive AC roundtrip efficiency of up to 95%. EP Cube offers flexible options with capacities ranging from 6.6 kWh to 19.9 kWh, ensuring compatibility with most current PV systems, microinverters, and EV chargers. It is also IP65 rated, making it resistant to water, dust, and humidity, enabling installation both indoors and outdoors.
