Key Takeaways
  • Fimer has launched its new PVS990-2000 utility central inverter with a maximum full-load capacity around 2 MW at REI 2026

  • According to the company, it can be scaled up to 8,000 kVA by connecting multiple inverters in parallel

  • The Italian company also displayed its residential and C&I products at the show

Fimer, an Italy-based PV inverter and energy storage system (ESS) provider, launched its latest central inverter, PVS990-2000, for utility-scale applications at REI 2026.

Measuring 956 × 2,300 × 2,000 mm (W × H × D), it connects MW-scale PV strings, each rated at a maximum system voltage of 1,500 V and a current of 2,300 A, to a built-in MPPT via seven DC inputs. The product datasheet specifies an MPPT voltage range of 935 to 1,350 V. When connected to the grid, it inverts this DC power to up to 1,700 kVA of full-load AC power at 600 V, reaching up to 2,040 kVA during overload conditions. According to the datasheet, the inverter is rated for a maximum conversion efficiency of ≥99% and supports connecting multiple units in parallel to scale up to 8,000 kVA.

The company lists an enclosure ingress protection rating at IP65 for the product. It has an operating temperature range of -20 to +60 °C and uses forced air-cooling for thermal regulation without a separate chiller. It is equipped with AC and DC surge protection devices to provide safety against lightning. It also features a DC-side fuse and load-break switch, AC circuit breaker, insulation and ground-fault monitoring, anti-islanding, and over-temperature protection.

In addition to a central inverter, the company showcased its latest 415 kW PVM-415 string inverter for utility use cases.

For C&I applications, Fimer presented its PVM-75/125-TL and PVS-100/200-TL inverters for AC-coupled PV + storage systems. It also promoted its Power Platform with the PowerUNO (single-phase) and PowerTRIO (3-phase) residential hybrid inverter at the show.
