Fronius showcased its Verto Plus series 20 kW 3-phase hybrid inverter during the show
It also displayed the modular Reserva series 18.5 kWh energy storage system, expandable to up to 63 kWh by connecting 4 units in parallel
The company also promoted its upcoming 22 kW Wattpilot Flex Pro series EV charger
During Intersolar Europe 2025, Fronius’ booth showcased its latest hybrid inverter, a modular energy storage system (ESS), and a model of an electric vehicle (EV) charger.
Hybrid Inverter
Focusing on Europe’s residential and C&I customers, the company showcased its Fronius Verto Plus series 20 kW 3-phase hybrid inverter during the show. Equipped with 3 MPPT channels, each can support up to 2 strings and carry DC of up to 28 A. Compatible with a maximum system DC voltage of 1,000 V, this inverter’s integrated MPPT channels have a voltage range of between 150 V and 1,000 V. The company claims it can endure up to 150% DC/AC overloading. Its rated output power and nominal 3-phase AC of the inverter are 20 kW and 29 A at a 400 V system, respectively. According to the company, the wide MPPT voltage range and DC overloading capability make the inverter flexible in diverse application scenarios, such as different module layouts or orientations at the same site.
Configurable for either AC or DC-coupled ESS, this inverter, featuring a single battery port and rated for a DC voltage range of 150 V to 700 V, can deliver or absorb up to 50 A DC. An AC-coupled ESS connects the battery to the AC grid side, typically by a dedicated inverter, different from the PV inverter. The DC-coupled counterpart is a PV + storage configuration where both the PV and the battery are connected on the DC side of a hybrid inverter. According to the datasheet, this inverter can discharge up to 20,000 W DC power, while the maximum charging power is 30,000 W in the DC-coupled configuration. In an AC-coupled configuration, it can deliver charging power of up to 20,000 W.
Sized at 865 × 574 × 279 mm (H × W × D) and housed in an IP66-rated enclosure, the Fronius Verto Plus inverter offers multiple safety features. To mitigate potential overvoltage failure, stemming from lightning or surge voltages, both the AC and DC sides are equipped with surge protection devices (SPD). In addition, the incorporation of the arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) protects the system from any arc formation in the connected PV array.
Reserva ESS
Apart from the hybrid inverter, the company promoted its modular ‘Reserva’ series ESS at the exhibition. Engineered for the DC-coupled configuration, the company states this modular system, comprising 3.15 kWh battery units, can be upscaled to up to 15.8 kWh of storage by stacking 5 identical units. The company added that the storage capacity can be expanded to a maximum of 63 kWh by connecting up to 4 Reserva ESS in parallel. The ESS utilizes lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells.
According to the product datasheet, this ESS is compatible with the Fronius Verto Plus series hybrid inverter.
EV Charger
The company also showcased its Wattpilot Flex Pro series EV charger. The company says this charger, rated for up to 22 kW charging power, automatically switches between 1 and 3 phases to make the best possible use of the sun's power. It adds that the charger utilizes its in-built intelligent charging modes to use surplus PV power optimally; it features an Eco Mode that prioritizes solar power over grid power during vehicle charging.
The company expects to make this product commercially available in Q3 2025.
