Fronius Verto Plus hybrid inverter can provide round-the-clock power up to 33.3 kW
Its advanced emergency power mode can support up to 50 kW emergency power supply for up to 10 seconds
This new model features safety features like AC and DC SPD (surge protection), and AFCI (fire risk)
Mid-sized Distributed Generation (DG) consumers, such as farms, small businesses, and larger single-family or multi-family homes with connected loads between 15 kW and 33.3 kW, require hybrid inverters equipped with advanced features and robust emergency power supply capabilities.
In response to these needs, Fronius International GmbH, a company active in the fields of welding, photovoltaics (PV), and battery charging technology, has launched its latest hybrid inverter: the Fronius Verto Plus, designed specifically for DG consumers with approved loads of up to 33.3 kW. The key performance indicators of this new model fall under three categories: Performance, Safety, and Flexibility.
Performance
The Fronius Verto Plus features three 28 A MPPT channels, each supporting two DC strings, and is available in 15 kW, 17.5 kW, 20 kW, 25 kW, 30 kW, and 33.3 kW power configurations. According to the company, its wide DC input voltage range (150 V to 1,000 V) and high input current capacity ensure consistent power generation, even in complex rooftop installations with varying module orientations or inclinations.
Compatible with battery energy storage systems such as Fronius Reserva, the inverter automatically switches to backup mode in less than 11 seconds during grid outages. It can deliver full nominal backup output of up to 33.3 kW, supporting essential systems like heat pumps, cooling units, ventilation, and commercial machinery.
In addition, its Advanced Backup Power Boost function enables the system to temporarily increase output power to 50 kW for up to 10 seconds (depending on the connected battery), allowing for the immediate restart of critical loads during emergencies.
Flexibility
The inverter integrates several smart features. The Enhanced Power Harvest System allows DC/AC overload capability up to 150%, maximizing energy throughput. Additionally, Dynamic Peak Manager, an intelligent shading management system, ensures optimal energy yield even under partial shading conditions.
Safety
Safety is a critical concern for DG consumers, and Fronius addresses this by incorporating multiple protective features. The inverter includes integrated and replaceable surge protection devices (SPD) for both AC and DC sides, guarding against voltage surges. Additionally, automatic arc fault detection (AFCI) helps mitigate the risk of electrical fires, ensuring reliable and safe operation.
Data Security
Harald Scherleitner, CSO and member of the Fronius Executive Board, emphasized the company’s commitment to data protection, “With the Fronius Verto Plus, our customers are consciously opting for quality from Austria. In addition to a high-performance inverter, this also includes the responsible and careful handling of data.” He added, “We adhere to the highest security standards, storing all customer and system data separately and exclusively on European servers. Enhanced security measures, an ISO/IEC 27001-certified information security system, and regular security audits are standard practice at Fronius.”
