Generac Holdings Inc. has launched its latest microinverter - PWRmicro
It has a dual-input design, which converts power from 2 PV panels to up to 820 W AC power
It also supports integration with Generac’s PWRcell 2 energy storage system and home standby generators
It is expected to be commercially available in the next few months
Generac Holdings Inc., a provider of smart energy solutions, has launched its latest microinverter, PWRmicro.
Compared to its predecessors, this product offers higher power output and enhanced flexibility for installers/homeowners – its key features according to the company.
It is designed to convert power from 2 solar panels into a usable power output (AC) of up to 820 W for homes or the electric grid. The company states that the product’s rated output is up to 40% higher than that of competing microinverter products available globally. The company explained that each of its dual-input designs helps reduce curtailment of power due to shading and maximizes the capture of available solar energy from each panel. In addition, it supports integration with Generac’s PWRcell 2 energy storage system and home standby generators, creating a comprehensive home energy management setup. As a result, this integrated system offers both cost savings and energy resilience with extended backup.
In addition, the Generac Field Pro app allows instant discovery of each microinverter and even supports commissioning at nighttime using grid power, enabling installers to complete commissioning and configuration after sunset. Its device-to-device communication is supported by an in-built power line communication (PLC) system, while firmware updates occur automatically at night to minimize downtime and commissioning time.
This microinverter carries a warranty for up to 25 years of operation. According to the company, it is expected to be commercially available in the coming months.
Beginning in Q4 2025, Generac plans to expand its unified energy management platform by integrating PWRmicro and PWRcell systems into the ecobee app and compatible thermostats. The company expects it will enable homeowners to monitor and control both clean energy and smart home devices from a single interface.
