Gokin Solar, a well-known silicon wafer supplier, showcased its back-contact (BC) modules for residential, commercial & industrial (C&I), and utility-scale applications at SNEC and Intersolar Europe 2026. Anne Meng, Senior Director, Global Product Technology, presented the company’s product portfolio at the TaiyangNews Global PV System Technology Trends H1/2026 Conference.
Under the company’s GBC product series, Meng highlighted the latest updates marketed as GBC 2.0 and 2.1, including 3 BC modules for residential, C&I, and utility applications. For these modules, the company uses its own ultra-high-resistance silicon wafers with light doping to enhance the minority carrier lifetime. The differences between the 2.0 and 2.1 are that the latter series uses full-screen layout design hiding the busbars that connect cell strings, and zero busbar (0BB) interconnection. The 0BB interconnection increases the active area on the rear side by 0.4%. Meng stated that the full-screen design with hidden busbars increases the module’s active area by 1.4%.
For residential applications, the company promotes GK-3-54HGFDb, featuring a maximum power of 505 W at a conversion efficiency of 24.5%. This module is based on Gokin’s GBC 2.1 series and has an all-black appearance. The product is built using 108 half-cells in a dual-glass configuration and measures 1,800 × 1,134 × 30 mm.
Similar to the residential module, Gokin offers the GK-3-72HGF for C&I applications, based on GBC 2.1, with a maximum power output of 675 W. The module is made up of 144 half-cells in a single-glass configuration and measures 2,382 × 1,134 × 30 mm.
For utility, the company offers a module (GK-4-66HGBD) with similar dimensions as the C&I module but with a lower power rating of 660 W. This lower power is a result of the module being based on 132 half-cell configuration and Gokin’s GBC 2.0 series. It does not have the advantage of additional active area due to 0BB and hidden busbar designs. Meng said that the module will be commercially available in H2 2026.
For these products with a 108 half-cell layout, the company offers a product warranty of 25 years and a performance warranty of 30 years.
