China's Huasun Energy has launched a new heterojunction (HJT) module with up to 720 W power output targeted specifically for offshore solar power plants calling it V-ocean series, with a 30-year service life and certified by China's National Center of Supervision and Inspection on Solar Photovoltaic Product Quality (CPVT) and Bureau Veritas.
Huasun says the global potential installed capacity of offshore solar PV projects is estimated about 4 TW and China accounts for 400 GW of the share. Anticipating promising opportunities in the space that's still taking baby steps, it has now launched the high efficiency HJT module to 'address the current challenges faced by this field'.
It does not, however, share the maximum efficiency of the V-series. The company did say, "According to theoretical calculations, when compared to a PERC module with the same size, an offshore project equipped with V-ocean series 700W HJT modules can achieve an annual power gain increase of 6.9%. This results in a 7% reduction in balance of system (BOS) costs and levelized cost of electricity (LCOE), leading to a 30% increase in internal rate of return (IRR)."
The V-ocean HJT solar modules of Huasun are available with double glass and equipped with PIB, advanced encapsulants, corrosion-resistant coated glasses and electrophoretic composite frames, to withstand high levels of water vapor, salt mist, hot spot shielding and turbulent marine environment.
The Chinese manufacturer also touts these offshore modules to bring significant cost savings, helping bring down structure system costs by 10% and improve sea area utilization by 8%.
Huasun says these modules have successfully passed multiple cycles of vibration tests and demonstrated excellent anti-crack performance in both deterministic and random experiments. These have cleared 12-time IEC dynamic load tests and salt mist levels at level 8.
