QW Solar, a Chinese HJT PV manufacturer introduced the latest expansion of its offshore application Orca HJT series module at the SNEC 2024 event in Shanghai, China.

Speaking to TaiyangNews, the company described its latest Orca HJT series as a dual-cycle self-cleaning zero-water permeation module suitable for floating solar applications. The dual-glass module laminated with self-cleaning anti-corrosion property glass is offered in a dimension of 2,384 x 1,134 mm with 132 pieces of 210 mm HJT half-cells. The module boasts a power output of up to 750 W and an efficiency of more than 23%. The glass’ unique dual features of self-cleaning and anti-corrosion properties offer enhanced module resistance against dust accumulation or corrosion due to the saline water proximity. The company emphasized that its dual-glass design mitigates the potential risk of water vapor permeation inside the laminated cell matrix, which minimizes the risk of potential induced degradation (PID) in offshore PV applications. A real-time demonstration of continuous water splashing over an Orca series and a standard HJT module at the booth simulated on-field seawater splashing conditions. The simulation depicts the Orca series module’s waterproof feature.

The company also said that its latest HJT module is commercially available and is 3rd party certified. It has 27 GW of manufacturing capacity including HJT modules, cells, and wafers. Specifically, QW Solar says its current capacity for HJT modules is 12 GW and 8 GW for HJT cells.

TaiyangNews recently published an excerpt on modules for application in floating solar power plants (see Modules for FPV here),  which is a part of the TaiyangNews Floating PV 2024 Report that can be downloaded for free here.
