Key Takeaways
  • Hoymiles introduced its HiOne residential ESS to the Canadian market at ETC 2026

  • HiOne integrates an inverter, battery, and an EMS, with 4 MPPTs

  • The company also showcased its HoyUltra 261A C&I storage system, offering 261 kWh capacity and 125 kW rated output

Solar inverter and energy storage manufacturer Hoymiles introduced its HiOne residential energy storage system (ESS) in Canada at Electricity Transformation Canada (ETC) 2026 in Toronto. The company also presented its HoyUltra 261A commercial and industrial (C&I) storage system.

HiOne brings the inverter, battery, and energy management system (EMS) together in one unit. Hoymiles says installation can take as little as 15 minutes. It has 4 maximum power point trackers (MPPTs) and supports a maximum input current of 20 A. The company adds that this configuration suits rooftop installations with different orientations and shading conditions. During a power outage, HiOne can switch to backup operation to keep connected household loads running.

Hoymiles also shared results from HiOne's system-level thermal runaway propagation test, conducted in accordance with UL 9540A. The company reports that thermal runaway remained confined to the triggered cell, did not spread through the module, and caused no fire in the system.

Hoymiles also refers to safety certifications from TÜV and VDE. Earlier this year, Hoymiles and TÜV SÜD released a white paper examining developments in residential energy storage, including system integration, safety and intelligent energy management (see The Evolution Of Residential Energy Storage).

For C&I applications, Hoymiles showcased its HoyUltra 261A ESS. The unit has a nominal battery capacity of 261 kWh, uses 314 Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells and delivers a rated output of 125 kW. According to the company, the system achieves a maximum round-trip efficiency of 90.3%. Both the battery and power conversion system (PCS) use liquid cooling, allowing operation at full rated power at ambient temperatures up to 50°C. The system also supports scheduled charging and discharging to help businesses manage electricity costs.

In addition to the two storage systems, Hoymiles displayed its single-phase HMS and 3-phase HMT microinverters. These use module-level MPPT to manage power generation from individual solar modules. Both series also feature a low-voltage DC architecture.
