

Hoymiles has launched a 22 kW bidirectional DC charger for residential applications
The charger supports vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid energy flows

Solar inverter and energy storage solutions provider Hoymiles has launched the HiOne-22VD-G3 bidirectional DC charger. It works with the company’s HiOne residential energy storage system (ESS) to connect solar generation, battery storage, an electric vehicle (EV), and the grid.
Based on vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology, the charger can both charge a compatible EV and draw electricity from its battery. In vehicle-to-home (V2H) mode, the EV can supply household electricity during a grid outage. Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) can support peak shaving and participation in virtual power plant (VPP) programs. These functions depend on the EV model and local grid requirements.
Unlike an AC charger, the system transfers DC electricity directly between the solar system, stationary battery, and the EV. This bypasses the EV’s onboard charger and reduces the number of power conversion stages. According to Hoymiles, the charger can add approximately 110 km of driving range in an hour, compared with around 35 km using a conventional AC charger.
The charger delivers up to 22 kW and operates across an output voltage range of 200 V to 1,000 V DC. Hoymiles states a peak efficiency of 97% in both charging and discharging modes.
According to the company, the charger incorporates an EU MID-certified meter for energy measurement. Users can select a green power mode to prioritize available solar electricity or a fast-charging mode through the company’s home energy management app.
