JA Solar, a vertically integrated Chinese PV manufacturer, highlighted its currently available and upcoming products for the US market at the recently concluded RE+ 2024.
Speaking to TaiyangNews, the technical director of JA Solar, Teodor Galitev, briefly outlined the commercially available p-type PERC model under the DeepBlue 3.0 Light series and the upcoming n-type DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series for the US market.
Under the DeepBlue 3.0 Light brand, the company promoted its commercially available JAM54S31 MR series p-type monofacial black module for the US market. The module, equipped with 108 (6 x 18) half-cell matrix of p-type cells, boasts a power output of up to 420 W. This model, featuring JA Solar’s mass-produced p-type PERC cell, known as p-Percium+, of up to 24% cell efficiency, delivers up to 21.5% module-level efficiency. The half-cell matrix laminated between 2.8 mm thick front glass and backsheet under a module dimension of 1,722 x 1,134 x 30 mm weighs only 19.5 kg. The p-type model can be tailored to customer specifications with a maximum system voltage of 1,000 V or 1,500 V, says JA Solar. Following the 1st year’s 2% degradation, JA Solar offers up to 25 years of power attenuation warranty at a 0.55% annual rate for this model. The product warranty is of up to 12 years, added the company.
DeepBlue 4.0 Pro
The company also showcased its yet-to-be commercially available n-type DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series bifacial modules for the US market at the show. Based on JA Solar’s 182 x 199 mm rectangular size n-type TOPCon technology, known as Bycium+, the DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series offers 5 different types of modules suitable for multiple application scenarios. The Bycium+ cell technology has delivered up to 26% efficiency in mass-scale production, added JA Solar. These models are JAM54D40/LB, JAM66D42/MB, JAM72D40/LB, JAM66D45/LB, and JAM72D42/LB.
For residential applications, the JAM54D40/LB series model, equipped with 108 half-cut pieces of 182 x 199 mm rectangular size cells, boasts a power output of up to 455 W and an efficiency of up to 22.8%. The module, laminated with 1.6 mm thick front and rear glass integrated with a 30 mm thick aluminum frame, weighs 22 kg. The compact size of 1,762 x 1,134 x 30 mm and the light weight makes the module suitable for residential applications, added the company.
For commercial & industrial (C&I) and utility-scale application scenarios, the DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series has 2 models of different dimensions based on a 132-piece half-cell matrix - JAM66D42/MB and JAM66D45/LB. The JAM66D42/MB model delivers a power output of up to 595 W and an efficiency of up to 23%. This model offers 6 different power classes between 570 W and 585 W, added JA Solar. This module is equipped with 8 mounting holes, each of 7 x 10 mm, along the long-side frames of the 2,278 x 1,134 x 30 mm size module, which enhances its compatibility with various types of mounting systems. On the other hand, the JAM66D45/LB series model comes with 4 mounting holes. Moreover, both models have additional 8 mounting holes, each of 9 x 14 mm size, along the long-side frame for compatibility with the bracket system of solar trackers from manufacturers like Nextracker. When it comes to the performance attributes of JAM66D45/LB series, it has a rated output power of up to 620 W and an efficiency of up to 23%. The module has dimensions of 2,382 x 1,134 x 30 mm.
The DeepBlue 4.0 Pro is also offered as 144 half-cell-based bifacial modules - JAM72D40/LB and JAM72D42/LB – which have a power of 605 W and 640 W, respectively. Both modules offer an efficiency of up to 22.9%, added JA Solar. The JAM72D40/LB series module has a dimension of 2,333 x 1,134 x 30 mm. The larger variant, JAM72D42/LB module has a size of 2,465 x 1,134 x 30 mm. These modules have 8 mounting holes along both long-side frames. They also have dedicated mounting holes for installation on solar tracker brackets.
All these models offer installation-friendly customizable solar cable lengths for portrait or landscape orientation upon request. The company is offering 12 years of product and 30 years of performance attenuation warranty for all types of modules under the DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series. These modules will be commercially available in the US by next year but can be ordered now, shared JA Solar.
