Key Takeaways
  • Ktech Energy displayed its 3-phase hybrid inverter, which offers insulation resistance and supports VPP, at IGEM 2025

  • It also showcased a 1-phase hybrid inverter compatible with sodium-ion batteries

  • The company debuted an 'all-in-one' storage solution, which combines an inverter, battery storage, and a control unit

During the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2025), Ktech Energy Co., Ltd., a provider of PV inverters and hybrid energy storage solutions, showcased its lineup of products for the Malaysian market.

Notable among the products displayed was the KE Series hybrid inverter, KE-29K9D5H3EN. This inverter is targeted at households and shop owners with 3-phase connected loads. Automatic insulation resistance (IR) detection of the connected plants and compatibility with a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) are among the key features of the product. Considering Malaysia’s humid environment, the inverter checks the IR resistance of the connected plant (PV array and battery stack), typically before waking up in the morning or during the rainy season. When the IR value goes below a certain threshold, the inverter disconnects itself from the system, which might otherwise cause safety issues, like short-circuits.

A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) is an aggregated system of distributed energy resources (DERs) that are coordinated using software platforms, artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud technologies. DERs encompass rooftop PV, battery storage, and electric vehicle (EV) chargers, among others. This artificial plant optimizes generation, storage, and consumption of electricity, without being physically located in one place.

The company states that this hybrid inverter, when integrated with a third-party VPP platform, provides additional revenue streams for the consumers. It also contributes to supporting the country’s grid stability, albeit passively. In terms of performance, it offers a power output (AC) range from 29.2 kW to 60 kW. In addition, when paired with a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery bank, the inverter draws or delivers up to 100 A (DC) of charge or discharge current, respectively. Calling it a high rate of charge/discharge, Ktech says that this helps meet fast-discharging demands during evening peak hours.

The 1-phase variant of KE Series hybrid inverters, KE3KD5L1EN, was also on display during the show. This product is compatible with sodium-ion batteries, which the company promoted as a cost-effective and greener alternative. In addition, its ‘full’ safety feature protects against short-circuits via a hardware mechanism, while its overcharging or over-discharging protection is managed by software. It has a rated power output (AC) range of 3.6 kW to 10 kW.

The company also debuted its solar plus storage solution, PowerX Core E, which combines an inverter, battery storage, and control unit, all in a single enclosure. This ‘all-in-one' system features a power output range of 5 kW to 12 kW. Its storage capacity, starting from 5 kWh, can be expanded to up to 30 kWh. Among the product’s key features are a compact design that saves installation space, targeted at Malaysian homes or shops with limited area, and mixing of old and new batteries in the same unit, supported by an in-built battery optimizer. Ktech says these advantages contribute to installation flexibility and cost-optimization.

We are awaiting the company’s response regarding the commercialization of these showcased products.
