LONGi and ENGIE to deploy Hi-MO 9 BC modules for utility-scale solar projects across the MENA region
The Hi-MO 9 module delivers 670 W power, 24.8% efficiency, and 80% bifaciality
The collaboration aims to accelerate the energy transition with sustainable, innovative solutions
In a major stride toward advancing large-scale solar adoption, global solar leader LONGi has announced a strategic partnership with ENGIE, a world-renowned energy group, to deploy its latest Hi-MO 9 modules across utility-scale projects in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). This collaboration marks a defining moment in the renewable energy sector, reinforcing the growing industry shift toward back contact (BC) technology as a driver of next-generation solar performance.
At the heart of this partnership lies LONGi’s Hi-MO 9 module, a technological powerhouse boasting a maximum power of 670 W, an efficiency of 24.8%, and bifaciality of up to 80%. Featuring a revolutionary design that relocates all cell electrodes to the rear, the module eliminates shading losses, maximizes light absorption, and delivers superior performance in real-world conditions. This innovation ensures enhanced reliability and long-term energy yields, positioning Hi-MO 9 as an optimal solution for utility-scale developers.
Speaking about the partnership, Vice President of LONGi Dennis She said, “ENGIE’s selection of Hi-MO 9 is a testament to the global energy sector’s recognition of BC technology as the ultimate frontier in solar innovation. LONGi’s collaboration with ENGIE sets a new benchmark for utility-scale solar deployments worldwide. This partnership reaffirms our commitment to delivering solutions that redefine efficiency, durability, and sustainability.”
Sharing similar sentiments, ENGIE's Managing Director MENA Renewables & Batteries, François-Xavier BOUL, said, “For ENGIE, this partnership with LONGi reflects our commitment to lead the global energy transition through the adoption of cutting-edge, innovative and sustainable solutions. This collaboration agreement will serve as a model for large-scale solar development in Middle-East and North-Africa, driving progress toward a carbon-neutral future.”
Beyond delivering record-setting performance, the Hi-MO 9 modules enable more sustainable land use with higher power density, supporting environmentally responsible solar expansion. Both LONGi and ENGIE emphasize their shared commitment to maintaining rigorous environmental standards throughout the lifecycle of these projects.
