Chinese solar PV cell and module producer AIKO has unveiled what it says is the world's most efficient and low-carbon PV module thanks to the use of low-carbon granular silicon from the world's leading polysilicon manufacturer GCL Technology.
Based on the n-type all back contact (ABC) technology of AIKO and granular silicon from GCL, it has a mass production efficiency of 24.2%, according to the 2 companies that jointly launched the product at the Intersolar Europe Trade Fair 2024 in Munich, Germany.
It has passed the French carbon footprint ECS certification with its minimum carbon value of 437 kg equitable carbon/kWc.
"The collaboration between GCL Tech and AIKO to create the most efficient low-carbon ABC modules will deliver significant environmental and economic benefits to customers in Europe and worldwide," said Managing Director of Solarlab AIKO Europe Dr. Christian Peter.
"The combination of GCL Tech's independently developed FBR granular silicon and AIKO ABC modules will set a benchmark for green manufacturing in the PV industry with superior efficiency, quality, ultra-low carbon emissions, and environmental benefits," said GCL Tech Vice President Amy SONG.
AIKO says the product is already in mass production and being delivered to the customers. Both companies plan to achieve French carbon levels of 400 and 350 kg eq CO2/kWc in phases from the second half of this year to 2025.
AIKO is already producing ABC modules with 24.2% efficiency and 655 W output with which it leads the TaiyangNews Top Solar Modules Listing (see Top Solar Modules Listing — June 2024).
