German laser system manufacturer InnoLas Solutions GmbH announced that its ILS-TT laser machine was delivered to Hanwha Q CELLS R&D facilities in Germany in September.
The ILS-TT is a production proven high-throughput laser machine platform, which allows Hanwha Q Cells to further improve their existing production processes for their crystalline silicon solar cells, , says InnoLas. The ILS-TT is InnoLas' high-throughput laser processing system.
InnoLas had supplied its ILS-TT laser machine to former Q-Cells in the past and has now been selected to become a development partner for Hanwha Q Cells' next generation production technology. Such lasers can be used for various high-efficiency cell concepts but are also very suitable for PERC cell production processes. Hanwha Q Cells is the leader in PERC cell technology, having production capacities of around 4 GW and producing more PERC cells than anyone else today.
A recent free report by TaiyangNews shows that PERC is currently the hottest topic in upgrading cell processes to higher efficiencies (see PERC Solar Cell Technology 2016)
Markus Fischer, Vice President R&D Processes at Hanwha Q Cells GmbH said: "InnoLas is enabling us to achieve our ambitious efficiency milestones on our roadmap faster and more reliably. We look forward to continue our trustworthy partnership by evaluating innovative technologies together."
Markus Nicht, CEO InnoLas Solutions: "We are proud that Hanwha Q Cells, one of the world leading manufacturers of premium solar cells, has chosen our ILS-TT laser platform after evaluating other options on the market. It shows that we remain the technology leader in advanced laser processing for the PV industry."
