Norway-based Over Easy Solar is bringing pre-assembled PV panels for green and flat roofs. The company showcased its products and solutions at Intersolar Europe 2026 in Munich.

Mainstream rooftop installations are carried out by fixing the mounting system, which involves either drilling the roof or using ballast to avoid drilling. Over Easy Solar’s solution avoids both by offering pre-assembled panels into frames that are laid out and fixed on flat or green roofs. The panels used in this solution are not the mainstream-sized but much smaller in dimensions, covering the width of a full cell. These panels are aligned vertically along their lengths, making them the shortest vertical PV (VPV) systems. The company states that its plug-and-play designed installation takes 15 minutes per kW capacity, without the requirement of any tools.

The panels are made using heterojunction (HJT) cells and deliver a maximum power output of 256 W. They are constructed using tempered dual glass of 3.2 mm each. The company’s xM-3 QUATTRO-256s comes in multiple variants, mainly differing in dimensions. A VPV unit comprises the supporting structure and four individual PV panels. The dimensions of a single VPV unit (STD Foot 60) for a flat roof are 1,580 × 1,489 × 309 mm, and a similar unit for a green roof (BIO Foot 120) measures 1,580 × 1,489 × 369 mm, about 6 cm higher than the unit used for a flat roof.

Since the panels are quite close to the ground (roof surface) compared to the mainstream VPV systems, the albedo plays a significant role in the energy generation by the panels. For this reason, Over Easy Solar also developed a free mobile application that can estimate albedo in real time. The application uses the smartphone camera to respond to differences in reflected light intensity. A gray card, which is commonly used in photography, is also used as a reference to determine the albedo. The camera captures both the ground surface and the gray card to compare light levels and estimate rooftop reflectance in real time. As rooftop reflectance, or green roof reflectance, does not remain consistent over time, this app-based estimation offers a cheaper alternative for determining the albedo.

The company claims it has installed its pre-assembled VPV systems across Norway and 13 other countries, with over 50 installations.
