TaiyangNews TOP SOLAR MODULES Analysis H1-2025 reviews high-efficiency modules by efficiency bands and by cell technologies. Band analysis shows the overall efficiency levels, while technology analysis follows how each type evolves over time. Following a look at BC and HJT earlier, this article now turns to PERC.
The share of PERC products has been steadily declining over the past 2.5 years. In the first half of 2025, the number of PERC products dropped from 20 in January to 18 by March, remaining unchanged through June. This reduction led to a drop in share from 38% to 35% over the same period. The decline was driven by the removal of long-standing PERC modules, including those from Risen and Akcome. While PERC still accounts for the highest number of products, its relative influence in the TOP SOLAR MODULES listing continues to wane.
The year 2024 began with 24 PERC products, corresponding to a 44% share – unchanged from the previous month. However, this dropped by 1% in February due to an increase in the total number of listed products. In March, Kalyon’s module was added to the list, temporarily pushing the share back up to 44%. The second half of 2024, however, witnessed a steady decline in PERC product numbers, falling from 25 to 20. This began with the delisting of Kalyon’s PERC module – just 4 months after its inclusion. Subsequent removals followed: Tongwei Solar in September, Astronergy and Talesun in October, and JinkoSolar in December – all due to these companies phasing out their PERC product lines. As a result, PERC’s share dropped significantly to 38% by December 2024.
The situation looked quite different at the start of 2023, when 17 listed PERC products accounted for 50% of the total. This product count remained unchanged through H1 2023, though the share fell to 45% by June. In July, 6 new products were added from Qn-SOLAR, SolarSpace, URECO, CECEP, GCL SI, and Runergy – all commercially available PERC modules with efficiencies at or above 21.5%. These additions briefly pushed PERC’s share back near 50%, but this gain eroded in the following months as products based on other technologies entered the list. Although ZNSHINE’s PERC module was added in October, the share dropped to 44%, where it remained through the end of the year.
