Chinese solar modules manufacturer Risen Energy has reported 23.89% efficiency for its high-efficiency heterojunction (HJT) series, that now have a maximum power output of 741.456W, claiming it to be a 'new world record' for the highest power and highest conversion efficiency of HJT solar PV modules.

Germany based testing firm TÜV SÜD is reported to have certified the claim which is higher than the company's December 2021 high of 23.65% efficiency for 721W HJT module (see 23.65% Efficiency For Heterojunction Module).

Risen has announced this record for its ultra-low-carbon and ultra-high-efficiency Hyper-ion module launched in 2022. While the company does not reveal too many details about the higher efficiency achieved, it counts the contribution of multiple cutting-edge technologies as thin-film superimposed bifacial microcrystalline technology along with use of low-silver paste, no busbar and stress-free interconnection to have landed here.

The modules also have a stable temperature coefficient and bifaciality of 85%±10%.

"Relying on the industry-leading 100μm ultra-thin battery technology and low-temperature process, the carbon footprint value can be lower than 400kg eq CO2/kWc, showing the advantages of green environmental protection," stated Risen.

The manufacturer's Senior Director of Module R&D, Liu Yafeng said these new HJT modules are characterized by the 4 'highs' of high module power, high power generation, high conversion efficiency, and high reliability. These also have the 4 'lows' namely low attenuation, low temperature coefficient, low carbon footprint and low cost of electricity.

Talking about the Hyper-ion modules during TaiyangNews' High Efficiency Solar Technologies Conference in November 2022, Risen Energy's Po-Chuan Yang had said the company aims to expand the annual production capacity of its HJT Hyper-ion solar cells and modules to 5 GW each by H1/2023 and scale it up to 15 GW each by 2023-end, up from 500 MW each back then (see Day 2: TaiyangNews High Efficiency Solar Technologies Conference).
