SolarEdge’s Power Control System is UL 3141 certified for US C&I solar projects
The function is available for eligible Synergy and 3-phase inverters running firmware version 4.25.509 or later
In California, it supports commercial Rule 21 non-export and export-limited applications, subject to utility approval
Global supplier of DC-optimized PV inverters SolarEdge Technologies has introduced its Commercial Power Control System, not to confuse with the power conversion system (PCS), for US commercial and industrial (C&I) PV projects. The system provides Power Export Limit and Non-Export Control functions.
Standard power-control approaches often rely on external controllers and customized system architectures. Depending on the project, expanding PV capacity may also require transformer, switchgear or electrical-service upgrades and a new utility interconnection review.
SolarEdge’s UL 3141 system combines power-control functions in compatible inverters with a meter and current transformers that measure power flow at the grid connection point. The inverters adjust their output in real time to keep exports at or below the configured limit. SolarEdge says this standardized architecture can reduce the need for external controllers and some electrical upgrades. Combined with the company’s DC-optimized commercial architecture, it can also support longer strings and fewer balance-of-system components.
The system is certified to UL 3141, the standard for power control systems used with distributed energy resources. SolarEdge lists compatible Synergy inverter families SExxK-USxxIxxx4, SE-DBL-US00IBNx4 and SE-TRI-US00IBNx4, as well as eligible 3-phase inverters running firmware version 4.25.509 or later. In California, SolarEdge says the system supports commercial Rule 21 non-export and export-limited applications. It may also allow eligible expansion projects to retain existing NEM 2.0 status, subject to utility approval.
